Why I made an all black SWAT minifigure
A lot of you love the all black tactical look on a minifigure, so I wanted to make a SWAT figure with that look and give you a good deal on it at the same time. I kept the body simple with blank black legs and a black torso, then added a police style tactical vest with SWAT printed in white across the back. A red beret on top makes the black really pop, so the whole figure comes down to three clean colors: black, the classic yellow skin tone and red.
The figure is a mix of SWAT and military police, which is why it comes loaded with gear a regular police officer would never carry. It is really more of a battle pack: one figure plus a whole pile of weapons and accessories. Since then the lineup has grown into a full team of tactical operators.

Every SWAT team needs the right headgear. The SWAT Helmet is the go to for an entry team, and the Police Helmet works for riot and patrol builds. For officers who are not kitted up for a raid, the Swat Cap and Police Cap give you a lower profile look. Add an Armor Plate Vest and your minifigure is ready to stack up on the door.

All of the guns in this video are the revamped versions. The detail is way more crisp and clean, and the grip size is now perfect for a minifigure hand. The old grips were a little too large, so I went back and fixed every one of them.
SMGs
A compact SMG is what you would actually see a SWAT team carry. The BT45 SMG is a great all around pick, and the BT45 Suppressed SMG adds a suppressor for quiet entries. The BT5K SMG is a short, compact SMG with an extended magazine, since the older version was a little too short. If you want a longer gun with a built in suppressor, grab the BT5SD SMG Full Stock.

The BT18 is one of my favorite pistols, and you can see how clean the detail is on the BT18 Suppressed Pistol. The Revolver is not exactly standard SWAT issue, but it is a fun extra to throw in. For less lethal options there is the T62 Taser, inspired by the classic police taser, and every SWAT figure deserves a Combat Knife, which is one of my favorite designs.
Shields and breaching gear
For the guys at the front of the stack, the Shield Operator leads the stack and the Hard Breach Operator is built to take down doors. How to build a custom LEGO SWAT team
A real SWAT team works as a unit, and your minifigures should too. Give every member of the stack a job:
- Pointman: first through the door. The Shield Operator with a sidearm like the BT18 Suppressed Pistol.
- Breacher: opens the door for everyone else. The Hard Breach Operator with the Breacher Shotgun.
- Entry team: two or three operators in a SWAT Helmet and Armor Plate Vest, each with a compact SMG like the BT45 SMG or BT5K SMG.
- Sniper: overwatch from a rooftop with the BT1 Sniper Rifle.
- Less lethal: one officer with a T62 Taser for police and riot scenes.
- Patrol and command: officers in a Swat Cap or Police Cap to round out a police and SWAT team.
