Why I started making my own helmets

For a long time the figures were genuine LEGO parts that I custom printed, and I made the weapons. Helmets were the missing piece. So I designed my own and started molding them, and now I make the helmets too. They are Injection Molded in the USA from ABS plastic, and when I made this video I had already molded around 60,000 of them.

Making them myself means I can run them in a bunch of colors: tan, dark tan, olive green, olive drab, dark bluish gray, gunmetal and white. That gives you helmets for desert, jungle, winter and urban builds without having to hunt them down one at a time.

WW2 helmets for custom LEGO minifigures

The four helmets in the video cover the main armies of WW2. The Stahlhelm is the classic German helmet, the M1 Helmet is the American pot helmet, the T90 Helmet is the Japanese Type 90 and the Brodie Helmet is the British helmet with the wide brim. Put one of each on a squad and you can build out every side of a WW2 battle.

If you want your German soldiers to look battle worn, the Netting Stahlhelm and Chicken Wire Stahlhelm add the netting and wire troops used to hold camo, and the Scratched Stahlhelm has a beat up finish. For an officer, the Captain M1 Pot is custom printed for the guy giving the orders.

Custom printed medic and military police helmets

In the video I mentioned a printed medic helmet was on the way, and now there is a whole lineup of custom printed helmets. The Medic Stahlhelm and Medic Brodie Helmet (4 sided) put the red cross on your field medics, the Military Police Helmet is made for MP builds and the UN Helmet is perfect for peacekeepers. The Cross M1 Pot Helmet and Peace M1 Pot Helmet give your American troops a little personality.

Modern combat helmets

For modern soldiers the Military Helmet is my go to. It is a fast style helmet and it is night vision compatible, so you can clip on the MONO Night Vision Goggles or DUO Night Vision Goggles for night raids. The Advanced Combat Helmet and Ballistic Helmet round out a modern infantry squad.

SWAT, police and special forces helmets

If you are building a tactical team, the SWAT Helmet is made for the entry team and the Police Helmet works for riot and patrol scenes. For special forces the SAS Helmet and GIGN Helmet give your operators a look you will not find on a regular soldier.

Caps and boonie hats

Not every figure needs a helmet. For recon, snipers and guys off duty, the Boonie Hat and Netted Boonie Hat are perfect, and the Military Cap and Army Cap give you a lower profile look around base.
