Why I made the Quad Blaster
When I was a kid I loved the old animated sci fi shows, and the four barrel blaster the troopers carried was always one of the coolest weapons on screen. Back in the early days of brick films, a lot of people built their own versions out of regular bricks, but I knew I could do better. I wanted to give it the BrickTactical treatment: injection molded ABS plastic, made in the USA, in my shop here in Washington state.
I had never seen one injection molded for minifigures before. A couple of people 3D printed them, but nothing molded. So I designed the Quad Blaster as 14 individual pieces in metallic silver that build together with no glue. Most parts have a tight fit, and a few, like the linkage arms, handles and receiver, have a looser fit so you can pose them. I kept the detail simple so it still looks right next to your other parts.

The 14 pieces of the Quad Blaster
- Receiver: the main chunky body, with connection points for the barrel plate, the linkage arms and the two handles, plus the rear sights on top.
- Backpack and neck bracket: the neck bracket fits around the minifigure's neck, not just the head stud, and connects to the linkage arms.
- Two handles: identical left and right handles with a little rivet detail.
- Two linkage arms: mirror images, with the extra support detail meant to face outward.
- Barrel plate: the hardest part to get right, with holes for four barrels, two gas tubes and the receiver.
- Four barrels and two gas tubes: two long and two short barrels with an open end and a V cut groove on each flash hider.
How to build the Quad Blaster
- Set the neck bracket and backpack on a hard surface and press them together until they snap.
- Line up each gas tube on the barrel plate and push it in with your thumb.
- Hold a short barrel in place with one finger and press it in firmly and straight with a small tool. Do both short barrels first, then the two long ones.
- Push the barrel assembly onto the receiver. You can rotate it 180 degrees if you want the barrels flipped.
- Press a handle into each side of the receiver. The handles rotate, which helps when you pose the figure.
- Take the headgear and head off your minifigure, slide the neck bracket over the neck and press the head back on firmly.
- Connect the short end of each linkage arm to the backpack and the long end to the receiver, with the detail facing out.
- Put the handles in the minifigure's hands and adjust the arms until it holds.
It is more of a collector's piece than a toy you throw around. You can take it on and off just fine, but you might have to pose the arms again. Set it up on a trooper on your shelf and it looks amazing.
Heavy blasters for your army
If you want more firepower, the Dual Blaster Cannon is a heavy twin blaster built from 12 injection molded parts and the Sentry Blaster is a sentry gun built from 17 gunmetal parts. For a whole squad, the Minigun Blaster (x10) and Rocket Launcher Blaster (x10) give you ten heavy weapons in one pack.

Blaster rifles and carbines
Every trooper needs a main weapon. The DC15 Blaster Rifle (x10) and DC15s Blaster Carbine (x10) arm ten troopers at once, and the Classic DC15 Blaster Rifle and Overmolded DC15 Blaster Rifle are single upgrades for your favorite figures. The overmolded version has two colors molded into one solid piece, so there is no paint to chip. For something different, try the BT17H Blaster or the Militia Blaster Rifle.

FAQ
What is the BrickTactical Quad Blaster?
The Quad Blaster is a heavy four barrel blaster for custom LEGO minifigures, made from 14 injection molded ABS parts in metallic silver. It has a backpack, a neck bracket, two linkage arms, a receiver, two handles, a barrel plate, four barrels and two gas tubes, and it is Injection Molded in the USA.
How do you assemble the Quad Blaster?
Snap the neck bracket onto the backpack, press the gas tubes and barrels into the barrel plate with a small tool, push the barrel assembly onto the receiver and add the handles. Then fit the neck bracket over the minifigure's neck, connect the linkage arms between the backpack and receiver, and pose the hands on the handles. No glue is needed.
Does the Quad Blaster fit any custom LEGO minifigure?
Yes. The neck bracket fits around a standard minifigure neck under the head, so it works on troopers, soldiers and any other figure, and most trooper helmets still come on and off.
Is the Quad Blaster meant to be played with?
It is more of a collector's display piece. You can put it on and take it off a minifigure, but the linkage arms are small and you may need to pose them again, so it looks best set up on a shelf.
Are BrickTactical blasters compatible with custom LEGO minifigures?
Yes. Every blaster is sized to clip into a standard minifigure hand and is Injection Molded in the USA from ABS plastic, the same type of plastic used for building bricks.
What is the best way to arm a whole army with blasters?
Buy packs. The x10 blaster packs give you ten of the same blaster, the Squad Blaster Pack and Blaster Pack give you twenty, the Heavy Trooper Blaster Pack gives you forty and the Army Builder Blaster Pack gives you fifty pieces.
Do you make blaster pistols and rifles?
Yes. For pistols, grab the BT34 Blaster Pistol, BT35 Blaster Pistol or DC17 Blaster Pistol (x10). For rifles and carbines, go with the DC15 Blaster Rifle (x10), DC15s Blaster Carbine (x10), BT17H Blaster or Militia Blaster Rifle.
